Mark Thomas to be inducted to Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame

Mark Thomas, 1981 graduate of OC and Delta alum is being inducted to the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame. Daily Oklahoman story here. By the way, if you attend Memorial Road on Wednesday nights, be sure and check out the class on Proverbs that Mark is teaching. Nowhere else will you hear a C of C bible class teacher ask, "Do we have any winemakers in this class?" followed by a detailed diagram in dry erase of the wine-making process. The awkward silence followed by nervous laughter after Mark asked that question was priceless. It is also a great class and Mark is a tremedous teacher. Congrats Mark on your Hall of Fame induction.

Brother Ted Norton requests your support

My son, Wil Norton, is in an Oklahoma City band named “The Non”. Two of the four members of the band currently are freshmen at OC. Three of the four attend Memorial Road CofC. You may listen to five of their 13 tracks at www.myspace.com/thenonband. The band is finding an increasing amount of success with concerts in Edmond, OKC, Tulsa and Stillwater. One person described their music as Coldplay meets Red Hot Chili Peppers meets Pink Floyd. No vocals. The Non is releasing their first CD titled “Paper City” on April 12th, 2007 with a concert at a local dive called The Conservatory in Oklahoma City on N. Western. Dean Mock would not have approved of this or for that matter, most of the venues at which they play. You are invited to attend but more importantly, purchase a CD to help “The Non” pay off their banker and keep the banker’s wife off his back for having underwritten and actually encouraged the venture. CD’s are $10 + 2 shipping and handling if you are unable to attend and would like a CD mailed to you after April 12th. If for some reason you want more than one CD, we will foot the additional shipping after the first $2.Send check to:Ted Norton3201 Durango WayEdmond, OK 73034“The Non” is also in a statewide battle of the bands named “A Fight For Fame”. The competition began with 45ish bands and is now down to 6. Please show your support by attending the next competition on March 30 at the Bricktown Ballroom in OKC and voting for the best band. While checking out www.myspace.com/thenonband please see their upcoming concerts and make an attempt to attend. If you live outside of OKC and have a connection for hooking them up with local talent and local venues in your hometown please let us know. Tell your kids about “The Non”. If you do see them perform, let Wil know the Delta ties from years ago still hold.Special thanks go out to our brother David Bates who hooked up the boys with Bass Propulsion Laboratories in Dallas for their recording sessions a few months ago. If you haven’t checked out David and Ronnie’s latest work visit www.myspace.com/theburgundysrock.Feel free to call me if you have any questions at (405) 924-6435 or at work at (405) 767-7448.Thanks,Ted

Recent email exchange between That One Guy! and Ted.

That One Guy: Will Howard and Jane be attending the Non's CD release party or will they wait to attend the performance with Ali Harter and Uglysuit @ Mike's College Bar in Stillwater?

Response from Ted: They will see the Non when they perform at a Saturday evening service at Henderson Hills that my dad will be speaking at.

I CAN'T WAIT!
